The Day I Was Fired Was Day One

If you've read my book or followed me for a while, you know this part of my story: 13 years ago, I was fired from my executive role.

After 25 years at Nordstrom, rising from the sales floor to leading a $2B business, it was over in a single morning.

That morning, I thought my career was over.

It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

It became Day One of the best chapter of my life.

Starting from the bedroom floor

With an iPad, my cell phone, and my husband's incredible support, I launched my consulting business from our bedroom floor.

Fast forward to today. I've worked with retailers and brands across the globe, written a book, and stood on stages in front of hundreds of women. More than that, I've built not just a business, but a life I truly love.

What I know now

Your experience doesn't leave with your title. Twenty-five years of knowing how to run a business didn't disappear the day I lost my job. It became the foundation for everything that came next.

You don't need everything figured out to start. I started with an iPad and a phone. The plan got clearer once I was moving.

Nobody does it alone. I couldn't have built this without my husband in my corner. Find your people and let them help.

Want the whole story? Balance Is Bullshit covers the firing, the rebuild, and what I learned along the way. Balance is Bullshit.
